The Black Sea Region in 2020 – a place for the EU?

This report presents an analysis of the current stage and worst/best case scenarios for the development of the Black Sea region. This report was prepared within the framework of the Black Sea Young Reformers Fellowship (BSYRF) project in 2011, by experts from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria and Ukraine. The authors project possible trajectories for political, economic and civil society development, as well as conflict resolution, between now and 2020, emphasizing that the ideal scenario will not be achieved without increased involvement on the part of the European Union in regional affairs. This report presents an analysis of the current stage and worst/best case scenarios for the development of the Black Sea region.
